Information about the Queen Cy-Bug

This information about the Queen Cy-Bug has been put together using the movie Wreck-It Ralph, the Hero's Duty online game, the Wreck-It Ralph video game, the Hero's Duty prequel comic, and The Art of Wreck-It Ralph book. I've organized the information and have given my own spin on it (along with some of it inspired by RP and discussions with others), in order to make sense of things and to make the character work.

They Cy-Bugs were originally created on Earth as a toy that would adapt and change to its owner. They were designed by Brad Scott.

It didn't take long for the company that he worked for to realize that the toys could be used as weapons, so they left the planet and took the project to an unnamed planet in order to finish it.

Once they made the first of the Cy-Bugs, it managed to escape and it ate the source code for the project (probably devoured the computer it was on). After that, it was able to use the source code in order to breed a whole army of Cy-Bugs.

This first Cy-Bug became the Queen, every other Cy-Bug is descended from her in one way or another.

During her escape, she devoured remote controls and walkie-talkies, giving her the ability to command and talk to the other Cy-Bugs through a Hivemind. She can hear Cy-Bugs from anywhere and absorbs their knowledge. Her database is large and constantly growing.

She even ate some sort of weapon that allows her to send three energy blasts at once.

Because she ate the computer systems, she's much smarter than the average Cy-Bug, she is their commander and leader.

Unlike her descendants, she knows that she's in a video game, she just doesn't care. She's built to be a conquering commander, and that's what she's going to do. If she had it her way, all games would be under the rule of Cy-Bugs. Now that one Cy-Bug had accidentally escaped into Sugar Rush, she knows it's possible to bring a game down in a matter of hours.

However, she isn't irreplaceable, for there is a Queen Code embedded into all of the Cy-Bugs, if she were to fall or if the Cy-Bugs were in a place without a Queen, another one would step up to take her place, transforming into a Queen Cy-Bug.

Some of this is due to their possible military application, since they were to be drones to attack enemies, the company was working on a commander code, one Cy-Bug to coordinate the mission, and if something happened to it, another one would then become the commander.

Cy-Bugs transform part or all of their bodies when they eat something, gaining the powers of weapons or even the minds of other beings.

The Queen doesn't do many of these transformations, choosing to keep herself nearly pure Cy-Bug. This doesn't mean that she doesn't like an occasional meal of live meat, she just won't eat the whole person, ensuring that she won't transform.

Her keeping herself as much Cy-Bug as possible is a protection for her and the other Cy-Bugs. If a transformation has disadvantages, then it would pass down to all the other Cy-Bugs. An example of this is of the swarm in Sugar Rush, because they ate candy and descended from a Cy-Bug that ate candy, their shells are weak and easily smashed. Any planned invasion into Sugar Rush will take this into consideration.

Because she has gifted all of her Cy-Bugs with the source code, they too can breed endlessly, the only requirement is that they have enough food and energy to sustain the egg-laying systems. This is partially the reason why they devour everything they see.

Since they were made to fight, normal bullets can't pierce normal Cy-Bug armor. Only the special multi-mode rifles created by Brad can destroy them, since they're from the same source code and will adapt to their targets. This is necessary because Cy-Bugs are constantly changing.

The only other thing that can stop the Cy-Bugs is the Beacon control system. It was created to keep the Cy-Bugs under control, however, it kills them in the process, so the scientists don't like using it. However, during a military mission, it'd be good for quickly disposing of the scattered Cy-Bug troops. It calls all of them in and vaporizes them, however, it can only stay on for a few minutes. It's currently unstable, though presumably, the scientists would have worked on it, if they had more time.

After the first Cy-Bug outbreak, the scientists either fled the planet or were killed. Brad stayed behind to create the rifles that could destroy the Cy-Bugs. The staff that took care of things were left on the planet and the Space Marines were called in to rescue them.

Sergeant Calhoun led the Space Marines into battle and they eventually found Brad, who had just finished the rifles and equipped the Space Marines. They defeated two waves of Cy-Bugs, one by shooting them down, the other by the activation of the Beacon.

While this didn't kill all the Cy-Bugs, it destroyed enough for the Space Marines to rescue the civilians, but they stayed behind to finish the job.

The arcade game Hero's Duty picks up some time after this, during the gap of time Calhoun and Brad fall in love and Brad is killed by a Cy-Bug on their wedding day (The Queen took advantage of everyone's distraction to try and strike a decisive blow, by killing the Cy-Bugs' creator and the Space Marine's Sergeant's love, she was hoping to eliminate two threats at once. However, this just made Calhoun even more determined to destroy Cy-Bugs. You could say it was the Queen's wedding present to them.).

In the game of Hero's Duty, the Queen waits on the 99th floor, the rooftop of the Tower where the Beacon and its control is located. She knows that the Beacon will kill her army, so she guards the controls to try and keep the Space Marines from activating it. The Towertop also provides her with an overview of the entire game and gives her  the best vantage point for commanding the other Cy-Bugs if necessary.

Floors 81-99 are her domain, though she's trying to expand lower into the tower. These floors are where a majority of the eggs are laid during and between games. She's the only Cy-Bug that will regenerate after a game and thus has to keep up the population in order for the gamers to have something to shoot. She's not in this alone, however, since all the other Cy-Bugs can lay eggs in a matter of hours after hatching, there's a constant number of eggs being laid and hatched all over the game.

Aside from laying eggs, the Queen's role in Hero's Duty is to be the final boss. While she calls in Cy-Bugs to help her battle, she's got a few tricks. Her main forms of attack are swiping her front claws at her enemies. She rears back and slashes with one claw. She swaps up which one she uses. Her other attack consists of her sending out three energy blasts at once. She does this multiple times before attacking with her claws again.

Once she's out of HP, she stumbles backwards and falls off the top of the Tower, too weak to fly and rescue herself. After she falls, the Beacon can then be activated.

Since the Beacon only is on for a limited number of time and it's located so high up, it doesn't kill all the Cy-Bugs at the end of the game. Some Cy-Bugs are unable to reach it for one reason or another and thus, they'll carry over to the next game, laying eggs while they wait.

The Queen is trapped in Hero's Duty, but she's biding her time. The Space Marines will slip up again one of these days, they did on Calhoun's wedding day and Wreck-It Ralph took one of her children into Sugar Rush, she'll get another opportunity and she will strike.
